Welcome to the official web site of the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone (HRCSL), the National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) of the country, established in 2004 by an Act of Parliament. The principal objective of the Commission is to protect and promote human rights throughout the country.

As you browse through the site, you will find information about what we do, and understand why and how we do it. You will also know our partners and how we collaborate; the composition of the Commission, our organisational structure and core values; and our relationship with the Government of Sierra Leone and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human rights, among other institutions.

Patricia Narsu Ndanema - Chairperson

Commissioner Patricia Narsu Ndanema was amongst the first set of staff recruited by the Human Rights Commission Sierra Leone (HRCSL) in 2008 when the HRCSL took up effective operations in 2007. She has a joint post graduate degree in Development Planning and Management from the University of Dortmund, Germany and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi Ghana. She also has a BA degree from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. Over the years, she has had several professional training on various human rights thematics and currently pursues International Human Rights Law at Nottingham University UK.
